That Time When

I remember when you would come up to visit and pull me around our neighbor hood in a big red wagon, for hours at a time. No one else, and nothing else, just you and I all day long, rather that be outside in the wagon or building pillow forts and having nerf wars. But then mom and dad got a divorce and you rarely came to see me and dad anymore, but who blames you. You had become old and had medical issues. So when Liam was born we came down to see you in Arizona, we all had a good time, but we got in a fight right before I left. Then you were gone. No more red wagon or pillow forts, no more nothing. I was mad and in denial, mad at the fact you were gone, and mad that my baby brother will never get to know you. Most of all though at myself, and the fact that I didn't talk to you after we left for a couple weeks because of a dumb stupid fight. The only thing that could top that is the fact Uncle Bob was taking it so hard and I didn't notice because I was to mad. Just so that a couple weeks later he could get in an accident that killed his girlfriend and then in all the sadness take his own life. If only someone had talked to you if only you had picked up the phone and called. Guess it doesn't matter, I wouldn't have talked. Now all I have is a gloomy memory of those last few weeks.
