Losing a Dog

You don't want to believe they're gone. You call their name hoping they come back, but they never do. You lay on your bed, dangling your hand, waiting for a nudge. You try to picture them up in heaven running in fields with other dogs, but it's hard to picture them without you. You strain to hear the noise of their collar, running towards you when you call, but they never do. Memories of you playing with them are slowly fading, but you try to remember. You wonder if your dog misses you too.

It's never the same after they're gone...

I was just passing through to find a story and your title caught my eye because I think it is something we all can rellate to, or if not all of us some of us including me! And what you said was so true. Has it happened to you recently? Great Job!

No, I lost a dog about 3 years ago, but a friend lost a dog recently and it made me think of how I felt.

It's no surprise we miss dogs as much as we do. Dogs are called "Man's best friend" for a reason. When did you lose your dog?
