Disclaimer: I do not mean to offend anyone in the education systems. I just want to express my opinion with my First Amendment in hand. If I do offend you, then tell me in the comments. Also this is not inspired by the post by Brody A. Delta. I started this project BEFORE that post was made. Thank you.
"Education is what remains when one forgets what they learned in school."-Albert Einstein
If one of the smartest people in the history of the Earth says something like this, something is extremely wrong with that thing. I originally heard this quote in an I Hate Everything video about School. This made me think. What is wrong with school? Here is my top 5 list of things wrong with school.
1. We are trained to be wimps. In elementary school all they tell us to do is "The safe thing." Like, "Don't climb that awesome looking tree! You might fall and hurt yourself!" Sometimes the safe thing isn't the right thing to do. Like what is the tree had a gold nugget in it? At least in Middle School they give us a shock of the REAL WORLD. It would be nice if they taught us about real life at the beginning though.
2. The subject matter is silly sometimes. When have you ever used algebra outside of school? Never. You know what you do have to do outside of school? Taxes, paperwork, apply for jobs, buy houses and drive. We never learn any of that at school. Some people argue that it is the parent's responsibility. You are forgetting that while at school, the school and teachers act as an "In Loco Parentis" or an "in the place of a parent." Technically it is their responsibility to teach us these things. But I can understand the standpoint of the teachers why they don't teach us these things. They have to deal with about a hundred different people every day. Then you add in the fact that teachers barely get paid. The average amount of money that a teacher is getting paid right now is about $56,000. Bull Riders usually get paid more than that, by about $50,000. And if they teach us the things they should teach us, they would lose the only source of income they have. That is sad. Fix this.
3. The food is terrible. There is no worse food than school cafeteria food. Gordon Ramsay, one of the worlds top chef says, and I quote, "I've seen better food in prisons." This means that the government feed their murderers, kidnappers, and rapists better then they feed innocent children. This is depressing.
4. This year, we were added a mandatory class. Health. Nobody really wanted to take it. While they ended up making it mostly enjoyable, there are still a few things that the teachers should touch upon. First, we all know what you should eat and how much. Teach us about important things in foods such as GMO's and how deadly chemicals can be found in things we use everyday. We already know about heroin, meth, and smoking. Teach us the things we don't know. Also don't make us take classes we don't want to take and if you do, teach us things we don't know.
5. The right to education is something I agree with completely. But I don't know why we are forced to go to school. We are free human beings, so shouldn't we be able to decide whether or not we get education. If we don't, we don't. If we do, we do. Simple as that. As human beings we shouldn't be forced to do anything. We should be able to do the things we want to do. This is the only time in our lives when we are allowed to have little to no responsibilities. Kids should be allowed to enjoy that, instead of spending 15 percent of our overall lives at school.
There we go. I needed to get this off my chest for a while. If you don't respect my opinion, say that you don't agree RESPECTFULLY, ok. Glad I got that sorted out. I remember the feminists post by C. Claw. That comment section though... Anyway, I hope you enjoyed, and if you didn't then I'm sorry I wasted your time.
Sincerely,
Micheal

Didn't offend me! But I'm homeschooled, so you listed most of the reasons why my parents decided that!!
You are lucky Gray. Very lucky.
Lol, I know. ;P
But the only cons are:
1. You don't really have that much of a life
2. Making friends is hard
3. Homeschool homecoming and homeschool dances stink! Like, no one can dance...
I can agree with all of that except for the dance one because I've never been to one.
Don't. It's the most awkward thing EVER. I feel bad because I refused to dance with some guys I knew from the homeschool community, but I've known them far too long and it's just weird!
Next year I'm either not going, or I'm getting a date since that will at least save me from being forced to dance with a bunch of guys that are like my brothers. Just, no. It felt all wrong!!
Wow. That sucks. I won't be going to a dance for a while. Thanks for the warning!
Haha this is so so so true! I really agre with the one where they train us to be wimps! They say, "go tell a teacher or adult", or "make sure to always choose the safe choice." No! What if someone was trying to hurt you!? Self defense anyone?
I completely agree with this, not to mention teachers who don't seem to realize that children have issues and lives outside of school. A few spelling errors here and there but besides that I really enjoy your rant posts. Keep it up!
